DJ Scott “Smokin”Silz has been at the top of game and spinning records since 1977. An original member of Chicago’s world-renown Hot Mix 5 DJ team, these are the guys that created House Music and the Radio Mix Shows you hear today. A House Music Legend, Scott has entertained millions of people and played thousands of events. He has received numerous awards for professional excellence. His top-rated mix shows have been heard on 107.5 WGCI FM, V-103, and WBMX in Chicago and in New York at WBLS just to name a few.
He’s been nominated for “best touring event in the USA” by Campus Activities Magazine. And he’s received a #1 ranking for DJ Artistry from the Chicago Tribune. Scott was the Director of Production and Imaging for iHeart/Clear Channel Radio at the top 2 music stations in Chicago WGCI and V-103 and has won awards for both commercial production and Imaging. He was the Creative Services Director with Premiere Radio Networks for Reverend Jesse Jackson’s syndicated show “Keep Hope Alive” and a Producer for BRG Music/King Size Radio. In all, Scott’s work was heard in over 200 markets.
Scott is working on several new Dance Music projects with Kompute Music, a Chicago based House music label. Recently Scott was listed along with the other original members of the Hot Mix 5 as one of the 10 most influential DJ’s in radio in the world and the only American DJ’s to be listed by the London Observer.
Recently the City of Chicago renamed the intersection of Michigan Avenue and Balbo to HOT MIX 5 Boulevard. Scott has an amazing talent for music. He knows what crowds like, how to get a party going, when to play the appropriate music for the mood, and how to keep a party rolling and the dance floor filled!
