Marquee Show Awards

Coming out of Covid we felt it was only deserving to recognize two industry based organizations who made it a point to always support education by being sponsors at every major and minor trade show in our industry. Promo Only and the American Disc Jockey Association were those two organizations. 

In 1992 I attended one of my first DJ shows and was blessed to get to Andy Ebon present his knowledge on wedding marketing to the DJ industry. At the end of the seminar I asked him for a business card. Approximately one week later I called Andy and he was my mentor almost until the day that he died in August of 2021. I had the pleasure of calling him not only a colleague and mentor but also a very close friend. Andy was not only kind to me, but to everyone who reached out to him for help. He spoke at countless conferences, wrote articles for trade publications, and very rarely said No to most people who asked him for advice. It is because of his giving and mentoring nature that I created the Andy Ebon Flame of Inspiration in his honor. 

Mike Walter's name has been synonymous with education in the DJ Industry in the mid 1990s. He has spoken at countless conferences, done private coaching, written for numerous publications, as well as published books and training videos for the DJ Industry. He also had the pleasure of having Andy Ebon as both a friend and a mentor.  

Alan Berg is not a DJ. He has however helped thousands of DJs grow their business through the education that he provides on a daily basis. He has spoken at countless conferences, written books and produced training videos, publishes blogs on a regular basis and is a staple in the area of sales and marketing to today's wedding couples. He also had the pleasure of having Andy Ebon as a colleague and a dear friend, 

You can't go to wedding, mitzvah, or school dance without a DJ getting everyone doing the Casper Slide aka Cha Cha Slide. Willie "Casper" Perry created the Cha Cha Slide and has been a part of making people celebrate ever since his song first dropped. In addition to this he was a staple at numerous DJ conferences, ADJA meetings, and gave back to the DJ Industry every time he was asked to. Casper passed away in August of 2023 and we felt it worthy to honor his contribution to the industry by giving him this award.
